US closely monitoring the situation in Sri Lanka

The United States has announced that it is closely monitoring the situation in Sri Lanka.
Issuing a statement, the Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs of the US State Department said it is deeply concerned by the violence against peaceful protesters and innocent bystanders.
It also urged all Sri Lankans to focus on finding and enabling long-term solutions to the country’s economic and political challenges.
Several other foreign missions and diplomats in Sri Lanka also condemned the violent clashes that erupted yesterday in Colombo.
