Colombo Dockyard delivers the largest ship constructed in Sri Lanka

Colombo Dockyard, the largest and oldest ship building company in Sri Lanka has delivered the largest ship built in Sri Lanka's history of shipbuilding to Japan. Colombo Dockyard delivered its biggest and most sophisticated vessel, the submarine cable-laying ship "KDDI Cable Infinity" built for Japan's Kokusai Cable Ship Co. Ltd yesterday.
Prime Minister's Chief of Staff, Minister of Shipping and Shipping and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake graced the occasion of handing over the largest ship ever produced to Japan. Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka and several others participated in this occasion.
The 113-meter long ship built by the Colombo Dockyard will be used for subsea operation and deep sea high tech cable installation and repair works of optical cables as well as power cables.Colombo Dockyard PLC is a flagship investment of Japan and operates in joint collaboration with Onomichi Dockyard Company Ltd. of Japan. Sri Lankan Government institutions hold more than 35% stake in the Company.
